My name is Anis Darwich Ismail and I am a bioinformatician with a background in computer engineering. I have just completed my Master’s degree in Bioinformatics at KU Leuven, and have previously earned a Honors Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from the Lebanese American University.

I am starting my Ph.D at the Laboratory of Multi-Omic Integrative Bioinformatics (LMIB) at KU Leuven. I am interested in the way Deep Learning can improve our understanding of biology. I am mainly interested in exploring and developping new tools that can decipher the inner working of black-box deep learning models in the context of multi-omics integration.

I’ve contributed to the research and development of many innovative Machine Learning solutions in the industry, collaborating with some amazing organizations like Anghami, BMW Group’s Innovation Lab, the Machine Learning for Science Organization through Google Summer of Code, and Unicle, a Biomedical Data Science startup in Leuven, Belgium.

In my blog, I describe my experience in Data wonderland. Join me as I explore the fascinating intersections of Machine Learning and Bioinformatics through my latest Data Science projects, recent Machine Learning research, and insightful tutorials.

Buckle up and let’s go for a ride!
